Learn to Play, Play to Learn

Aksdal Kindergarten, Norway:

Blurring the conventional boundaries of inside and out, we set out to define this project as a “midscape” where nature, architecture, and human social activity merge. The architecture takes its cues from the natural environment while actively shaping the action in and out of the building. The inside and the outdoors fuse in a series of in-between spaces we call midscapes. These are spaces with porous boundaries for integration. This is a truly convertible environment that through simple moves invites the natural to mingle with the architectural, defining a new approach to architecture and living environment.
