Learn to Play, Play to Learn

Aksdal Kindergarten, Norway:

Blurring the conventional boundaries of inside and out we set out to define this project as a “midscape” where nature, architecture, and human social activity merge. The architecture takes its cues from the natural environment while actively shaping the action in and out of the building. Inside and out fuse in a series of in-between spaces we call midscapes. This is a truly convertible environment that through simple moves invites the natural to mingle with the architectural, defining a new approach to architecture.
